Cambridge
Inman square was originally named after Ralph Inman, a wealthy Boston merchant, who owned an acre of land in the area in the 18th century. During the American Revolution, Inman’s mansion was taken over by a British general, and thus the area came to be known as Inman Square. Inman Square officially came to be in 1809, when Hampshire and Cambridge street were built by Andrew Craigie. Inman Square played an important role in the women’s movement in 1970’s, as it was the site of the Cambridge Women’s Community Health Center. Located right between MIT and Harvard, Inman Square has been a wonderful neighborhood for generations.
